The meaning of Independence Day has not changed. But this year it has taken on an additional view for those of us in the United States. I am obviously referencing our Independence from the pandemic that enveloped our country but is still raging in other parts of the globe.

While we plan to watch the return of fireworks, coordinate cookouts or pool parties, it is a time to remember those who helped guarantee America’s independence and freedom. We can enjoy this day thanks to the courageous efforts and determination of our American Forefathers. A determination that continues today, thanks to the brave men and women of our Military who have taken the ultimate pledge. They pledge with their lives.

On behalf of myself, Nancy, our Deputy Grand Master RW Richard J. Kessler and Joanne, the entire elected and appointed members of the Grand Line, their ladies, your local District Deputies, Staff Officers, Assistant Grand Lecturers and their ladies, as well as the Worshipful Masters and officers of each lodge in our jurisdiction, we wish you a safe 4th of July.

In addition, let us implore the Great Architect of the Universe to protect the members of our Armed Forces as they protect us, wherever in the world they may be serving, especially our First Responders. May He keep them safe and out of harm’s way so they can continue their important efforts and bring them home safely to their families and friends.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

William M. Sardone
Grand Master
