We had a wonderful afternoon of accolades for one of our employees that all of you know if you have ever visited your MCC. Teena Davern works in our food services department and she is involved with nearly every event on the campus that includes Masons.

Teena was selected as an Employee of Distinction by LeadingAge of New York. The Employee of Distinction Award recognizes extraordinary dedication of direct service and indirect service staff. She was also honored with a Legislative Resolution and Proclamation by NYS Senator Joe Griffo’s office and a Proclamation from NYS Assemblywoman Mary Ann Buttonschon. August 8th was declared Teena Davern Day in Oneida County by County Executive Anthony Picente’s office.

Our very own Most Worshipful Grand Master William M. Sardone presented Teena with the DeWitt Clinton Award. This award is given out very rarely and recognizes Teena for all that she has done to assist the Masons when they are on campus and for how she goes above and beyond for the residents of your MCC.

The DeWitt Clinton Award recognizes exceptional voluntary community service by non-Masonic organizations or individuals. Such service is to be one which exemplifies concern for the well-being of the community. The service provided should assist in freeing the community from concern affecting the safety and/or welfare of its citizens.

All of us at the Masonic Care Community are so proud of Teena and as our Executive Director, Rob Raffle, said of the award, “She does this, not because she has to, but because she believes she can make a difference each and every day. … And I can’t think of anybody who deserves this award more.”

There was also local media coverage of the event.
