Dear Brethren:

Hurricane Irma hit Florida with the “longest-lasting powerful hurricane or typhoon ever recorded, worldwide,” according to National Public Radio. More than 60% of the state is without power. Widespread flooding, depleted grocery shelves, fuel shortages, lack of fresh water, and damage from high winds have made life miserable for many.

The GRAND LODGE OF FLORIDA has now requested a “Disaster Appeal” to care for the many Brethren who live in Florida, and we need to remember that many New York Brethren and Families have relocated and reside in that southern state as well! While the damage is still being assessed, the certainty of many months of recovery is expected.

The Grand Lodge of New York has stepped up again and will shortly contribute Ten Thousand Dollars for the Grand Lodge of Florida. For your convenience, our Grand Lodge has provided a Web-Based donation portal at nymasons.org so you can easily contribute toward the “Disaster Relief” for the Grand Lodge of Florida and/or the Grand Lodge of Texas. Our portal is designed to accommodate ALL disasters. Just put your instructions in the special box on the Website. We guarantee that we will send your donation in accordance with your wishes. All contributions to “Disaster Relief” are 100% tax deductible to the amount allowed by law and will go directly to those Grand Lodges via the Masonic Service Association of North America (MSA) for distribution to the affected Brothers and their families.

My Brothers, I have never been more proud to be a Mason. It has been reported that Brethren from all across the nation are truly making a difference in providing much needed “Disaster Relief” to our Masonic Family in Texas. Now we hear the call again, and I urge each of you to come to the aid of our distressed Brothers, their wives and children in Florida. It is what we do… it’s “Our Way of Life!!”

Very truly yours, fraternally,

JEFFREY M. WILLIAMSON
Grand Master, Grand Lodge F. & A.M. of the State of New York
