District Grand Lodge of Syria-Lebanon, under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of the State of New York, was chartered on June 23, 1955, and consecrated on August 22, 1955 by Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of New York, M∴ W∴ Charles W. Frossel, who flew to Lebanon for that purpose.
The Lodges, which started working in Lebanon since 1924, have members who come from all backgrounds, religions and walks of life. The absolute belief in God and love for country, combined with the principal tenants of Freemasonry, unite them under one common goal, which is to build a better society for a better Lebanon.
In 2018, three of the District’s Lodges, namely Fakhruddin Lodge # 1903 which was established in 1926, Chouf Lodge # 1906 which was established in 1929 and Ani Lodge # 1911 which was established in 1960, petitioned the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of the State of New York to form a Grand Lodge. The charter was signed and issued by the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of the State of New York on October 24, 2018 and the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of Lebanon was born. The old GLNY charters were surrendered, and new charters issued by the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of Lebanon were issued.
An agreement was signed between the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of Lebanon and the Grand Lodge of the F&AM of the State of New York which organized the relationship between the 2 Grand Lodges, allowing the New York Lodges to operate under its District Grand Lodge of Syria-Lebanon to operate in the country of Lebanon.
