This is the Holiday Season. Our Jewish brothers celebrated Chanukah, and others will be enjoying Christmas, Kwanzaa, and of course, the New Year.
While we adapt to “socially distant” celebrations during the coming weeks, there are those whose needs far outweigh wearing masks. Let me cut right to the heart of this.
Your Grand Lecturer R.˙.W.˙. Richard Friedman has Stage 4 kidney failure. His great transplant team highly recommends transplant over dialysis and the statistics bear that judgment out.
We are asking if any Brothers would enter the process of being matched for a potential kidney donation. Matching is no commitment to following through, but it increases the pool of candidates who may donate and qualify to do it. The process involves screening wherever you are, including some blood work. If you pass that hurdle, then there would be further testing done to ensure you are healthy enough to donate without harm to you. All of this is at no cost to you.
If you are interested in getting matched the first step is to call the Strong Memorial Transplant team at 585 275-7753, choose option 1 and ask to speak to a donor coordinator and they will take it from there. Brother Friedman’s date of birth is 5/17/54. You may be asked for that date. Feel free to contact Brother Friedman at 585-739-6980 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or contact me.
I spoke to Rich today and just like the Marine he is, he is GUNG HO! But he did say this was the hardest “ask” he had to do. We all need each other. Today Brother Friedman needs us.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
MW William Sardone
