MOTHER’S DAY 2008 MESSAGE TO THE CRAFT

To all of my Brethren, families and friends, This weekend we celebrate Mother’s Day and as one of my first messages to you as your new Grand Master, I think it is so important that we pause in our daily routine to say a very special THANK YOU and pay homage and remember all of those we cherish and love as Mothers … be they our own Mothers or the Mothers of others whom we love and admire.
We are all a product of our environment and our upbringing. Therefore, all that we are today, everything we have accomplished in life thus far, and everything we strive to achieve, we can and should thank our Mothers. It was our Mothers from whom we learned the meaning of love as demonstrated by their loving care and devotion and the lessons we learned from them as children.

WASHINGTON’S INAUGURAL ADDRESS 219 YEARS LATER

A Reenactment of the Inaugural Address of Our First President

On April 30, 2008 at 12:00 o’clock Noon, members of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the State of New York, with clergy from St. Paul’s Chapel, will commemorate the first official act of our Founding Fathers and Heroes of the American Revolution by reenacting the 1789 Inauguration of our first president and fellow Mason, George Washington. Promising to uphold “liberties and freedoms" under "a government instituted by themselves," President Washington’s stirring message to a fledgling nation are among the most influential words that shaped the identity of the United States. This reenactment is a poignant reminder of our American heritage and honors the men and women whose valor made our democracy possible.

The Colonial Craftsmen’s’ Club of Colonial Massachusetts coming to Utica

The Colonial Craftsmen Club will hold a tiled lodge meeting, On the Square, using Colonial period ritual and clothing on April 26 beginning at 7PM in the auditorium of the MCC administration building.

While the members of the Craft are enjoy the lodge fellowship the Distaff Side will entertain and inform our ladies regarding the fashion and customs of the time as well as vignettes of eighteenth century life.

The Colonial Craftsmen’s Club was founded in 1973 by a group of Massachusetts Masons who had an interest in the Colonial and Revolutionary eras of America. The original founders of the Club wished to explore that interest through the performance of Masonic degrees – not only in the current, approved for designated by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, but also according to the form and style used in the Colonial period.

American Flags for those Serving in the Military

My Brothers:
As you know, Grand Lodge has undertaken a program to provide American Flags to Brothers and their family members who are serving on Active Duty in the Armed Forces.

This includes Members of our Lodges, their wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews; grandsons and granddaughters of members as well.

I have been tasked by the Grand Master to spearhead this effort and oversee the distribution of these flags.

To do this, I need the name, rank and a valid address for these individuals as well as Lodge affiliation (or the name of the Brother and his Lodge that is providing the information to the committee). For those deployed overseas this usually consists of a unit address including the APO/FPO number. For others, this is either a unit or residential address. In either case please forward this information to me as soon as possible. Also please specify whether the individual to be presented is a member or their relationship to a member.
