Grand Master's Thanksgiving Message
So much has happened in the year since last Thanksgiving. Many of the events of this past year have given Joyce, Brian and myself reason to pause in our Labors to say 'Thank You' to the Great Architect of the Universe for all of the many blessings we have enjoyed. As we all stop to rest, reflect and take comfort in our families and friends, let’s also take a moment to look at the world around us.
I ask you to think about those less fortunate than us. There are many around us who have experienced recent sorrows in their families; those that may need a helping hand; who need to hear a kind word, or just a phone call to hear someone say, 'Hi, how are you?' Each of us can make a difference in the lives of these people, by offering aid and assistance, or just by reminding friends that they are not alone.
Thanksgiving is also an ideal time to remember those families that have members active in the military and away from their loved ones. As you plan your dinner this Thursday, why not see if there are places at the table to invite families that will have empty seats at their own tables this year? Or take a moment and send a card, or spend a few minutes going to see them and ask them if they need anything. It is a lonely time for our military families, and I am sure some friendly contact is something they will be truly thankful for.
On behalf of Joyce, Brian and I, Edward and Helen Gilbert and your Elected and Appointed Grand Line, we hope that you and those you hold dear enjoy Thanksgiving, and may the Good Lord continue to bless you and your family and our great Fraternity. May He especially watch over our men and women in military service and bring them all back to us safe and sound, and may God continue to Bless America!
